Is the printer in your office working fine? Is your computer / laptop up and running smoothly? Is your network secure and safe? Is the Wifi in your office working at all times and in all locations? Is the IT infrastructure in your office working smoothly? And when there is an issue, who do you call to fix the problem and find a quick solution?
If the answer to the above questions was a YES, then you have an amazing System Administrator and IT team in place. The SysAdmin and the IT team is single handedly responsible to ensure that all IT systems in your office are up and running smoothly at all times. They are the tireless workers that operate behind the scenes to ensure that we can do our work without having to worry about the IT infrastructure.
Don’t you agree that they deserve a pat-on-the-back and word of appreciation from us?
The SysAdmin Appreciation Day is just that day when you can Thank and honour the SysAdmins and the IT team in your offices – heroic men and women who, come rain or shine, prevent disasters, keep IT secure and put out tech fires left and right.
SysAdmin Appreciation Day was created by system administrator Ted Kekatos and the first one was celebrated on 28th July, 2000. Kekatos was inspired to create the special day by a Hewlett-Packard magazine advertisement in which a system administrator is presented with flowers and fruit-baskets by grateful co-workers as thanks for installing new printers.
So this year, make it an event at your offices on 29th July. Take your SysAdmins and IT team for a lunch, an outing, a beer. Give them gifts and flowers. Thank them for their work. Inspire them. And show them that you notice their hard work and appreciate it.
After all, without them all of us would still be trying to figure out how to un-jam the printer or get the Wifi working.
Show us how you will be celebrating SysAdmin Appreciation Day this year. Share your photos on our Facebook page.
