Instasafe is now better than ever. With slick interface and flexibility it is more productive and easy of use for IT team to rollout and manage new remote sites/users in a much more secured environment.
Here’s a peek at a few of the changes we’re more excited about.
New Name of myInstaSafe:
myInstaSafe is now renamed to “CORE” – The central management console to manage all products of InstaSafe. The new console is now in beta and available for all our customers to do a test run and plan the migration. The URL for the console is customized for each organisation by using the organisation name as the sub-domain – e.g. https://vistaar.instasafe.com.
New User Interface and Design:
We have redesigned the user interface with a very intuitive flow for all activities during initial configuration and during troubleshooting. The look and feel (design) is greatly improved to make the interface easy to read and pleasing to the eye. The theme is responsive to support mobile devices such as tablets and mobile phones.
Improving from our previous version enforcing one-company, one-domain system, we have now abstracted the same and allow adding managing users from multiple domains. This makes it easy for large group companies having multiple domains accessing applications to be
managed easily from a single place.
Application Servers behind Gateway is now Protected Networks:
We have removed the need to add application server IP address and port under Gateways. Now, the administrator needs to add the networks that are behind the Gateway that will be protected by InstaSafe.
The Application Groups will contain the IP addresses of servers and its related services that are part of the protected networks.
The ACLs can now have the application added directly in the ACL. The benefit of this change is that the process of adding applications for access by users is intuitive and scalable.
We added support for multiple user directories for user provisioning and authentication using authentication profiles. The local authentication profile is the default profile to use and manage users locally. Other authentication profiles are present for each type of authentication system supported. We support the following external directories currently:
- Active Directory
- LDAP Directory
Organizations can add multiple external directory servers in each profile, as per their requirements without any limitations. This means that you can have enterprise users authenticated by AD and contractors authenticated by the local directory and so on. We are continuously integrating with authentication systems to provide you with a wide variety of authentication mechanisms and directories.
Automatic sync of users from directories:
We have added support to automatically and regularly sync with the directories to keep user status up to date in InstaSafe vs user status in the directory.
The benefit of this method allows for managing separation of duties in an easy manner for organisations.
Google Authenticator integration:
We now support Google OTP using Google Authenticator. Organizations can now enforce Google OTP for all users or for specific users (such as administrators) as per their requirements.
Google OTP authentication + password is made mandatory for InstaSafe Technical Support team.
Welcome / Warning Message Banner:
We added the ability for an organization to display their custom welcome / warning message every time a user logs into the portal. This will be extended to the endpoint agents too in the next release of the agents.
Alerting / Notifications:
We added the following events for alerting administrators / users:
- Configurable time frame to alert on license expiration
- Failed logins – we added ability to alert users and / or admins in case of 5 (configurable) failed login attempts
User Activation on custom date:
We added the ability to activate users on a specific date. Here the administrator can specify a date on which the set of added users can be activated.
We added the feature to auto-expire users on a specific date or after X number of days. This features benefits simpler user administration, especially in cases where temporary access is required to be provided.
We have revamped the Dashboard to show charts from different reports. Further customization of dashboard will be added in next version
Reporting is greatly improved in this version in terms of display of the records and responsiveness.
Customer authorization tokens for Technical Support:
As part of improving quick and efficient support, we have introduced the feature where customers have to provide InstaSafe Technical Support team or the partner support team, with an one time authorization token whenever they need Technical Support team to access the customer configuration.
Multiple device support with multiple sessions:
We added support for each user to add maximum of 3 devices (included in the subscription). We will provide ability to add more devices per user in future versions. We have also made multiple sessions active by default to allow users to connect through all of the devices at the same time.
Failed login action update:
We added the ability to suspend the user on a specific device for a specific amount of time. This allows the user to continue working from another authorized device.
Device suspension by Admin:
Administrator can suspend / delete any device of a user. This allows to block a device from accessing the company network in case the device is considered as compromised (lost / stolen / infected etc.).
Host checks is now Device Checks:
We have renamed the feature and have simplified its configuration to allow customers to add OS specific device checks.
Device checks changed from being applied globally to specific user / user groups:
We now allow the device checks to be applied to specific users or user groups instead of the same being applied globally and mandatory to all users.
Bulk Upload improvements / additions:
We added support to perform bulk upload for Gateways, Access Rules, Application Groups, Application Services and User Groups. The existing feature of Bulk Upload of Users is improved to include all fields applicable for each user including the user’s group membership.
We have introduced a bar at the bottom of every configuration page to other related pages for quick access. This is part of the improvements to make the interface intuitive while configuring a new setup or troubleshooting an existing setup.
Automatic sign-up process:
We have automated the sign-up process. In this process, the company and it’s primary administrator is automatically created in <company-name>.instasafe.com and the primary admin is provided an activation email after which they can start the trial of ISA. The default is trial license with 10 Users and 2 Gateways.
Renamed VPN Servers to Controllers:
We have renamed the VPN Servers to Controllers. This is inline with our messaging to show that our servers do more than just connect VPN clients and networks.
The best part? These new features are only the beginning. We have got the ton of exciting news coming your way this summer. Stay Tuned!
